Erik helps leaders transform broken cultures and create thriving, productive teams!. Erik has researched human motivation and organizational culture for over twenty years. His interest in these topics was surprisingly peaked during his time working in intelligence and counterterrorism. Erik worked in roles that required he develop an in-depth understanding of how and why terrorist groups were able to recruit new members. His counterterrorism experience ignited a passion for understanding motivation and the impact of leaders to shape culture and organizational dynamics . . . because he saw how critical this was to the formation of terrorist organizations. This passion set him on a lifelong pursuit to learn and teach about motivation and the power of connection. In his keynote speech, he uses his experience working with detainees in Guantanamo Bay Cuba to describe a moment when he learned a universal truth. While trying to understand why Al Qaeda was able to attract young men to take the extreme step of joining a terrorist organization, he discovered a universal principle that turned out to not just be a motivator and difference-maker for a terrorist organization . . . but it is also THE reason why businesses succeed, non-profits grow, sports teams overachieve, and families flourish. Erik also conducts customized leadership training workshops designed to help leaders develop strategies to improve team dynamics. These one or two day workshops are hands-on sessions where we train leaders in methods to improve employee engagement and motivation. The results of Dr. Saar's training include a healthier workplace environment, better employee retention, increased employee productivity, and improved profitability.
Erik is a veteran of the United States Army and has a B.S. in Marketing from King's College. In the Army he served as an Intelligence Analyst and Arabic Linguist. Erik earned his Master's degree from George Mason University and completed his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies at Alvernia University in Reading, Pa. In addition to his speaking responsibilities and role at Jasfin Consulting, Erik is an instructor in the Business and Organizational Leadership program at Penn State University and he is an adjunct instructor at the American Military University School of Global Security Studies.
